Shack-A-Thon

image not foundOne of our more memorable and well-known fundraisers, Shack-A-Thon, is an event in which we auction off spaces on Rudder Plaza for various student organizations to build shacks. The organizations then get to hang out at Rudder Plaza and join in the fun during the week. Not only does this serve as a great fundraiser, it also helps in educating people about poverty housing. Much of the fun of Shack-A-Thon is in constructing the shacks from donated materials.

During the week, forty-two tournaments, guitar hero, four-square, and other events are held. Shack-A-Thon helps to promote a sense of community among the organizations that participate as well as the people who pass by. Students from a wide range of organizations such as FLOs, dorms, and engineering societies, build and sleep in the shacks for the duration of the week. We also have many other student organizations including Apotheosis, Percussion Studio, Aggie Wranglers etc. come to perform for the students at Shack-A-Thon. Shack-A-Thon has been held at Rudder Plaza for a multitude of years now, meaning you could add this event to that long list of great Aggie traditions.
