Bidding for Shack-a-thon will take place online at
http://habitat.tamu.edu/shackathon
This contract must be received in the Aggie Habitat for Humanity mailbox in the Koldus Student Activities cubicles by 5pm Wednesday, February 27th.
When Aggie Habitat receives this contract, filled out appropriately, we will contact the first person listed on this contract. Habitat will email the username and password to the website to this person. You will be able to change the password.
The bidding will begin Wednesday, March 5 at 8:00am and end about 5:00pm on Friday, March 7th. The official time for this activity will be the clock on the auction website. The minimum bid per group starts at $500.
To bid, log into the website using your email as your username and the password that was mailed to you. You will then be able to access the bidding page. Each organization bidding should have two accounts (one for each person). After that, you will be asked to verify your bid and choose to submit the bid or cancel it. Once you click submit bid, it is considered final.
Up to two student groups will have the option to build on two adjacent lots, provided that their bids are more than twice the average bid. If the group does not wish to build on two lots, they will give up their second lot to the first runner-up. All bids are final, regardless of the number of lots desired. The average bid will be posted on the website.
When the bidding has finished on Friday, all winning groups will receive further instructions via email. Winning groups will be allowed to choose their lots based on ranking in the auction. This activity will take place at the mandatory meeting on Monday, March 24.
Winning groups must pay Habitat the amount they pledged on the website by Monday, March 24 at the latest. Groups that did not win in the auction will not owe Habitat any money.
Two student groups are allowed to share a bid. Both names of each group must be listed on this contract and one person from each group must sign this contract. This team will be listed on the website as a hyphenated name.
Second Contract
After winning a lot in the online auction, each group will be emailed construction and safety contracts, along with design guidelines. These guidelines have also been included in this packet, and will be available online. The organization contract must be returned to the Habitat mailbox by Wednesday March 19.
Winning groups must attend the mandatory meeting on Monday, March 24th. Each group must have at least two officers present at this meeting. This will be an instructional meeting about the building and safety procedures.
Each group will be responsible for funding, building, and cleaning up its own shack.
