A Brush with Kindness
Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity has discontinued this service. We do not know when this will be continued. We apologize for any inconveniences this has caused. -Aggie Habitat for Humanity 2/10/2012
Habitat for Humanity's A Brush with Kindness is a locally-operated program serving low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. The program is a holistic approach to providing affordable housing and assisting communities as well as families.
A Brush with Kindness ensures that families live in safe and well-maintained homes. The program is designed to revitalize the appearance of the neighborhood, encourage connections within the community, and most importantly, help preserve affordable housing stock.
This is a great opportunity for student organizations. A full home sponsorship costs $40,000. This leaves many organizations unable to volunteer. A Brush with Kindness will allow these organization to help better the life of a very deserving family. In order to cover the cost of supplies, each participating organization will simply need to raise at least $100. Of course, the more money raised the better. It is a very worthy cause after all.
Each home will take approximately 4 hours to repaint. The day will start at 9am. Volunteers will work until the house is completed. Approximately 10-15 volunteers can volunteer on each home.
This is a great bonding experience for members in student organizations. Each day on the work site will be fun and exciting.
Opportunities to volunteer will be available almost every Saturday in both the Spring and Fall semesters.
